After the success achieved in the USA and Canada, the Medical Laser Institute has recently incorporated the application of the radiofrequencies ThermaCool ® for certain facial areas. This is absolutely the latest in the treatment of coetaneous aging.

The radiofrequency generates an electric field that changes from positive to negative, causing molecular movement that generates heat.  This heat warms the dermis, which is the deepest layer of skin, while a sophisticated control system cools the epidermis before, during and after each emission.  The radiofrequency waves that heat the dermis produce the contraction of the collagen fibers and the stimulation of the synthesis of new collagen fibers.  Previous studies label this “lifting without surgery”, as it produces stretching and enlargement of the skin without damaging the coetaneous tissue.

The said treatment provokes a contraction of the skin (lifting effect), redefining the oval of the face, lifting the cheekbones and the eyebrows, as well as the base of the neck, while also remodelling the contour of the eyes. It is also effective for active acne and there are currently studies on its application to other parts of the body besides the face.

The treatment is not without pain and requires the application of anaesthesia one hour before the session. The duration of treatment is one hour and the patient can resume their normal social life immediately after.

The effects of the treatment can be observed at two times: one in the first few days, provoked by the contraction of the collagen fibers present in the skin at the time of application of the session; the other, a belated effect, with the expression of the stimulus produced by the synthesis of new collagen.

The “lifting effect” is progressive in function of the sessions done. The number of recommended sessions is a function of the desire of the patient to improve and the advice of the doctor.
