Kacowicz© Peeling Method: Triple-level orthodermal exoplasty
Phenol or carbolic acid is an organic compound used in deep skin peelings. It achieves greater penetration in the skin, attaining more dramatic results both in the restructuring of collagen fibres and in skin retraction.
Phenol has been used in peelings for several decades. After years of research, Dr Jose Kacowicz, an internationally renowned Brazilian physician has modified its traditional formula and developed a new family of safer, low toxic and highly penetrating peelings. These modifications influence the primary absorption modulating substances that, in a controlled manner, allow for penetration at all depths.
The new orthodermal exoplasty allows for phenol treatment on three levels with a reduced recovery period:
• Neopeel and Midpeel are low toxic, pre-oxidised phenol formulations that promote peeling of the corneum, break up the keratinocyte unions and produce a precipitation of the proteins in the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin.
• Multipeel is a deep triphasic peeling that allows for penetration control through alkalinizating substances which makes it much less aggressive than conventional phenol. It has a unique tissue regenerating capacity and requires the application of occlusive treatments.
Prior to treatment a retinoic acid cream should be applied to the skin. Its keratolytic effect leaves the skin smooth and even. A high skin protection factor sun block should also be applied.
Application is carried out by areas, first the forehead, then one cheek, followed by the other, etc. Between treating each area, there should be a five minute pause to observe the skin’s reaction and assure a gradual penetration.
A catalysing gel is then applied and finally a thin transparent silicon mask that hardens and plastifies, providing a sterile environment with no secretions. This mask is worn for seven days, returning to the clinic after 48 hours to make sure the process is developing correctly.
The Kacowicz peeling is recommended for mature skins with deep wrinkles, excessively pigmented skins or those with severe acne scars. |
